These are the recipies for this years Show (2022). They are Classes 70 and Classes 73

Gingerbread – Class 70 (men only)

225g Plain Flour

Pinch of salt

2 teaspoons (10ml) ground ginger

1 teaspoon (5ml) mixed spice

1 teaspoon (5ml) bicarbonate of soda

50g soft brown sugar

100g margarine

175g black treacle

50g golden syrup

150ml milk

2 medium eggs (beaten)

50g sultanas (optional)


  1. Heat oven to 150C (130C fan) 300F Gas 2
  2. Grease an 18cm square deep cake tin
  3. Sieve together flour, salt, ginger, spice and bicarbonate of soda
  4. Stir in the sugar
  5. Melt the margarine, treacle and syrup gently
  6. Gradually beat in the milk and allow to cool
  7. Add the beaten eggs and mix well
  8. Stir treacle mixture into the flour mix and add sultanas
  9. Pour mixture into prepared tin and bake for about 1 hr 15 mins

Granny Loaf – Class 73


225g Self Raising flour

Pinch of salt

25g brown sugar

50g chopped walnuts

75g raisins or sultanas

1 tablespoon (15ml) golden syrup

150ml milk


  1. Heat oven to 180C (160C fan) 350F Gas 4
  2. Grease a 15cm cake tin
  3. Place all dry ingredients in a bowl, add walnuts and fruit
  4. Beat to a soft mixture with syrup and milk
  5. Place in the cake tin and bake for 45 minutes
